Rosa Sat (c)2008
NEW SONG! I wrote this song right after the election of Barack Obama. I had been reading this quote numerous places and knew it had to be a song.
"Rosa sat so Martin could walk.
Martin walked so Barack could run.
Barack ran, that our children could fly"
Still can't get a definitive answer as to where the quote comes from originally, but I'll certainly give him/her credit as soon as I find out.
I am a Chicago-based Singer/songwriter
performing mostly acoustic folk
music— original, traditional, contemporary, and Celtic. I've played the
guitar for over 30 years, and also dabble with the fiddle,
mandolin, bowed psaltery and bodhran. Influences range from the music of my youth - The
Weavers, Steeleye Span, Joni Mitchell, Steve Goodman, Holly Near, Mason
Proffitt - to
contemporary folk musicians - Scottish artists Dougie MacLean and Jim
Malcolm, Bruce Cockburn, Sons of the Never Wrong, Chicago singer/ songwriter Mark Dvorak and
(ex-Chicagoan) Jennifer Armstrong. Throw in some bluegrass, old time
and blues, mix them all together, and you might be able to classify my
style.
