I am a Chicago-based Singer/songwriter
performing mostly acoustic folk
music— original, traditional, contemporary, and Celtic. I've played the
guitar for over 30 years, and also dabble with the fiddle,
mandolin, bowed psaltery and bodhran. Influences range from the music of my youth - The
Weavers, Steeleye Span, Joni Mitchell, Steve Goodman, Holly Near, Mason
Proffitt - to
contemporary folk musicians - Scottish artists Dougie MacLean and Jim
Malcolm, Bruce Cockburn, Sons of the Never Wrong, Chicago singer/ songwriter Mark Dvorak and
(ex-Chicagoan) Jennifer Armstrong. Throw in some bluegrass, old time
and blues, mix them all together, and you might be able to classify my
style.
"The feeling of lullaby and wonder fills her gorgeous vibrato. Listening to Amy Dixon-Kolar reminds us of why we need music in our lives. Go to one of her gigs, and be mesmerized by her beautiful writing and her stirring voice - you won't be disappointed."
"Amy Dixon-Kolar gives us lovely songs. Most are original, some are traditional; but each is her own, fresh and musical and artful. Her music touches us and quietly calls us to celebrate living; to reflect again on our humanity and on our community. Thank You, Amy."
Mark Dvorak Singer-Songwriter/Instructor - Old Town School of Folk Music
"Amy’s music is as pure and honest as she is herself." – John Abbey, New Soup Recording
"Amy is one of the most popular artists on
ezFolk, not only because of her beautiful vocals and talent as a
guitarist, but also because of the encouragement and inspiration she
gives to the other ezFolk artists."
Richard Hefner/musician and owner - ezFolk.com

Dixon-Kolar is one of the best artists I interviewed for this site.

"With her unique voice and commitment to Folk Music, Amy is always a presence on the stage." Off Square Music
"What a wonderful voice you have. I could listen to you all day. - Phillip Hartley"
"What a beautiful voice and excellent guitar work. Love your treatment of Wild Mountain Thyme. Now It's Time is going to be one of my favourites too. Regards from the UK. Cheers, Jet Brennan"
"As usual, Amy draws the depth of the music into her (and your) soul as she interprets a song. Her excellent guitar work neither tries to overwhelm you with overly ornate work nor overrides the vocal.? Amy is a favorite of mine on ezFolk, and I always look forward to hearing her offerings." -Brad
